Christopher Delgado, a local entrepreneur, is challenging Orange County Commissioner Christine Moore for the District 2 seat in the Aug. 23 primary. Pine Hills resident Sandra Fatmi-Hall is also vying for the seat. The newly redrawn District 2 includes all of Ocoee as well as Apopka and the northwest part of the county.

A June 9 press release announcing his candidacy, said Delgado “has long played a key role in the region across commerce, the city, and community, including supporting area schools, youth sports programs, and low-income residents.”

"As many in Apopka know, the people and community here are a priority to me and have been for many, many years," said Delgado, a Republican,in the release. "I am one of the first to support our great city, people and programs when help is needed. My role as County Commissioner extends and expands my ability to serve."

If elected, he said he would spend the first 30 days “meeting and connecting with members of the Apopka community and its commerce to ask questions and hear about their needs.” He will particularly focus on how best to use taxpayer money to best serve residents. "I've been to many public meetings with our local officials, and I've seen firsthand how many of the wants and needs of our communities are not regarded," he said.

His LinkedIn profile lists him as CEO of Goliath Ventures Inc., which provides executive consultant services to CEOs, chief operating officers and other high-level executives. In one of his previous positions, he was COO of Happy Supplements, a publicly traded CBD company.

In Orange County, nonpartisan races — county mayor, county commission, school board chair, school board members, and county and circuit judge candidates — are open to all registered voters of any party affiliation.
