The Orange County Supervisor of Elections Office will be open on Saturday, Oct. 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will stay open until 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 10, so people can register to vote for the Nov. 6 midterms.
The deadline to register is Oct. 11. The office is located at 119 W. Kaley Street in Orlando.
Typically, the deadline is 29 days before an election. But because the 29th day falls on a holiday — Columbus Day or Indigenous Peoples Day — the deadline was moved to Tuesday, according to a press release from the county supervisor’s office.
“This is a chance for voters who cannot come in during our normal business hours to make sure they get registered to vote before the deadline,” said Supervisor of Elections Bill Cowles in the press release.
People who have moved recently or been displaced because of Hurricane Ian can also update their addresses to receive vote-by-mail ballots. According to a video posted on Twitter, Cowles said ballots were shipped Oct. 5. The deadline to request a mail-in ballot is Oct. 29 by 5 p.m.
Early voting begins Oct. 24 through Nov. 6 (8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) at 20 locations around Orange County. Check OCFElections.gov to find your nearest location.
